Lecithoceridae comprise 100 genera and nearly 900 species. The family is divided into three subfamilies. They have worldwide distribution although they are more concentrated in the Malesia area. Adults have antenna about the length of their bodies or longer with their antenna pointing forward or to the side when at rest. The wings are held flat above abdomen and have lone upturned palpi. Their larvae are usually hairy and believe to feed on dead plant materials.
