The family Dryadaulidae was proposed by Regier et al. (2015) on the basis of a molecular phylogenetic study of the Tineoidea. It currently includes two genera: Dryadaula Meyrick, 1893 (45 species with worldwide distribution) and Brachydoxa Meyrick, 1917 (two species distributed in the Oriental Region).
